Hi mansi

The GD/PI process for PGP-ABM candidates is same as that for the PGP candidates. However,all the candidates in the GD are being evaluated for the PGP-ABM course. The evaluation for the written ability test and the GD is also same. For a GD the panel will evaluate the candidates on the basis of understanding of the topic, communication skills and thought process.

Hi srinivas

You should read extensively so as to build a perspective. Reading newspapers and magazines is very important for this. Also, make sure that you are able to communicate your idea in a crisp, concise and structured way. A few mock GD's can help you in understanding your weaknesses and then you can work on those specific areas.

As for the written test, the panel will be evaluating you on perspective on the topic and written communication skills. Therefore, one can analyse the various aspects of the topic. However, it always helps in taking a stand.

Thanks to IIM L student body for organizing this forum.

I have an issue, My IIM L GD/PI slot is clashing with IIM Kozhikode slot. Both are scheduled on april 8th, 2:00 PM,Hotel Monarch Luxur,Bangalore. Can you please help me in sorting this out.

Moreover, is there any chance that we might have case studies instead of GD's ?

Hi Shrinivas,

I would recommend that you start reading extensively with the goal of developing a perspective on some common topics and current affairs. This will help you in content generation. I would also say that when you read an article, you should spend some time thinking about it and questioning yourself. This will help you in developing a structured thought process. Do not concentrate too much on the facts and figures. In case you are not comfortable with speaking, i would say that you practice a few group discussions to eliminate basic mistakes.

Essay writing will be judged on the parameters of perspective and communication. In my opinion, you can discuss both sides of an issue in the essay. You should build your arguments in a structured manner with relevant examples wherever possible. (the same is true for the GD). You can practice writing essays on topics that have been mentioned in the GD/PI kit.

hi seniors !!
i have a call for the abm program. i want to know whats the placement scenario for the course, compared to the regular program? and i have no background in the agri field.. what chances do i have for converting the call and what steps can i take to improve them??

It is clear from the communication from the seniors that essay writing / GD is gonna be in abstract topics. Many a times these topics are misleading, kinda the emphasis may be on indian economy but we may mistake it as on general business senario or truly personal. how to get it right?.. is there any sort of explanation they give for the topic they provide or its upto us?.. kindly help out.
